Expertise & Interests

Research:

  • Soil-landscape modeling / pedometrics / digital soil mapping: Apply statistical and geostatistical methods for quantitative soil-landscape analysis, with the purpose of analyzing the spatial distribution, variability and behavior of soil properties
  • Environmetrics: Develop quantitative spatially-explicit models to assess environmental quality
  • Geographic information systems (GIS), soil and remote sensing applications

Specific Research Interests:

  • Assess the impact of land use and climate change on carbon sequestration and soil & water quality
  • Elucidate on the impact of environmental stressors on soil and terrestrial carbon
  • Develop multi-scale predictive models of soil and environmental properties across various spatial and temporal scales
  • Investigate biophysical feedbacks (soil-vegetation-water-atmosphere interactions) and carbon dynamics
  • Assess phosphorus and nitrogen patterns and dynamics across aquatic and terrestrial landscapes
