Professor
Soil Physical Chemistry
DEPARTMENTAL RESEARCH AREAS
Management of Nutrients, Pesticides, and Wastes
Soil Quality/Ecosystem Services
Remediation of Contaminated Soils, Waters, and Aquifers
RESEARCH FOCUS
General research area is the colloidal and physical chemistry of soils; specific interests include a) the long-term sorption/desorption reactions of phosphorus and arsenic in sandy soils, particularly as it affects solubility and transport, b) the application and development of flow calorimetric techniques to the study of soil chemical processes such as chemisorption, ion exchange, and degradation, and c) the catalytic properties of metal oxyhydroxides in aqueous systems with emphasis on their potential to degrade various types of pollutants.
