This course will provide students with the basic concepts of biogeochemical cycling of macro and trace elements including carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus, iron and sulfur. It will discuss the environmental and ecological significance of these biogeochemical processes in wetlands and aquatic systems as they relate to environmental elemental cycling, water quality, carbon sequestration, climate change, and sea level rise.
