About the Experiential Learning Lab

The Department of Soil, Water, and Ecosystem Sciences' Experiential Learning Lab (ELL) at the Bioenergy and Sustainable Technologies Laboratory facilitates hands-on experiences for students in classes related to soil, water, and environmental sciences in urban, agricultural, and natural ecosystems. With lab facilities as well as outdoor research and demonstration spaces, the Experiential Learning Lab offers individual and class opportunities for students to apply what they are learning to real-world situations and gain valuable research experience.

Fall: A season of discovery at the Experiential Learning Laboratory

The UF/IFAS Department of Soil, Water, and Ecosystem Sciences (SWES) Experiential Learning Laboratory (ELL) offers hands-on, practical experiences for undergraduate students. When Dr. Ann Wilkie created the UF Student Compost Cooperative (SCC) in 2009, her goal was to promote sustainability at the campus level. Over the next 15 years, the SCC grew to welcome the wider UF community. It also provided garden plots for members and incorporated sustainable practices
